$5 Million Settlement for Brain-Damaged Accountant
- Date: Winter 2002
- Attorney: John Blume
- Settlement: $5 Million
- Practice Areas: Motor Vehicle Accident, Commercial Vehicle Accident, Brain Injury
John Blume obtained a $5 million settlement on behalf of a 60-year-old accountant who was rear-ended by the driver of a PC Richards delivery van. The client initially sustained injuries to his neck, back and shoulder. After a year of physical therapy, the client’s orthopedic surgeon suspected a rotator cuff tear and performed surgery. The operation was successful, but either during the procedure, or, in the recovery room, the client was deprived of oxygen and sustained brain damage. He has since been confined to a nursing home and has been declared incompetent.
