$550,000 Settlement for Automotive Product Liability

The firm represented the estate of a man who was killed when he was run over by his own SUV. Because the man died before he was able to tell anyone what had happened, there was very little evidence to go on. However, the firm was able to identify a series of defects in the truck’s transmission system that could cause it to jump from park into reverse without the driver knowing. The firm also discovered that this same vehicle had been involved in several other similar incidents across the country. Using that information, and working with experts, the firm was able to reconstruct what likely happened in the incident and how the man was killed. The manufacturer of the vehicle settled the case for $550,000 prior to trial.
