The $7 million verdict that the firm negotiated for a client has been resolved. In May, the Derby Cycle Company agreed to drop its appeal of the initial verdict and pay the client a $3.25 million settlement. The client was injured the night of July 14, 1989 when a jeep made a left-hand turn into him as he rode his bicycle. The driver never saw the young man despite its having an “all reflector system.” The bike manufacturer failed to warn the client and others that a headlight on the bicycle was necessary for night riding.
