$1,940,000 Settlement for Medication Error / Stevens Johnson Syndrome

Carol Forte represented a family in a case concerning the death of their child after negligent medical treatment. Suit was brought against the child’s psychiatrist, for prescribing Lamictal for treatment of behavioral issues. This is an off label use of this medication. The manufacturer of the medication warns about a possible side effect of an extreme systemic reaction called Stevens Johnson Syndrome, which developed shortly after the 12 year-old began treatment. The reaction led to complications that resulted in his death.
