- Settlement: $3.017 Million
- Practice Areas: Medical Malpractice, Medication Error, Failure to Diagnose & Treat, Sepsis & Infection, NICU & Neonatal Nursery, Brain Injury
Blume Donnelly principal Carol Forte settled this case for $3,017,000 on behalf of an infant born prematurely at Monmouth Medical Center in January 1988 and placed in the intensive care nursery. Tests at first showed the infant to be doing well; however, an I-V in her hand became infected which medical personnel failed to notice. When the infection was finally discovered, she was given the wrong antibiotic and a wide-spread infection developed which caused brain damage. Now seven years old, the child can neither walk, talk, or sit up.
