$1,250,000 Settlement for Failure to Diagnose Sepsis

Carol Forte obtained a 1.25 million dollar settlement for the estate of a 39 year-old man who was discharged from emergency room with a diagnosis of neck strain. The man actually had early sepsis (infection) with an unusual bacteria. He was later admitted to the hospital, but was seen by a resident and not by an attending physician; and he died of sepsis.
