$1 Million Settlement for Pediatric Malpractice

The girl was examined at the hospital by her pediatrician. After her birth she was seen on numerous occasions by the same pediatrician for well baby visits. The pediatrician claimed she examined the child’s hips each time; however, at age 18 months it was discovered that the child had bilateral hip dysplasia, which means that both her hips were displaced when born. This condition is very treatable if caught early. This case was settled against the pediatrician for $1 million, the total of the insurance coverage.
