$775,000 Settlement for Automotive Product Liability / Burn Injury

Blume Donnelly partner Jeffrey Zenna represented a 30-year-old woman who was driving her vehicle in Orange, New Jersey when an unidentified driver of a car being pursued by local law enforcement went through a red traffic light and struck her vehicle. Our client’s vehicle caught fire and she sustained serious burn injuries to her hands, back, shoulders and face; requiring plastic surgery. Additional claims were made relative to the psychological trauma she suffered. Suit was brought against the law enforcement entities for negligence in their pursuit of the car which struck our client, and, for their failure to respond appropriately to the accident; as well as against the vehicle manufacturer of our client’s motor vehicle on a design defect theory. The case resolved at trial. The settlement with the car manufacturer is confidential.
