NJ State Bar Presents Fried with 2017 McLaughlin Award
(Chatham, NJ) – Hailed for his competence and professionalism, David Fried was presented with the 2017 James J. McLaughlin Award at an awards dinner on February 16th at the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick.
Each year, the Civil Trial Bar Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association presents the James J. McLaughlin award to a member of the Bar or Judiciary recognized for demonstrating civility, legal competence and exemplary professional behavior in the practice of civil trial law.
“David consistently holds himself to the highest professional standards,” said Carol L. Forte, who delivered a tribute to her law partner at the event. “His incredible work ethic and dedication to his clients has earned him this honor.”
David is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney and focuses his practice on all types of personal injury, most significantly the following areas: auto accidents, slip-and-falls, medical malpractice, aviation disasters, construction accidents, and lead poisoning. He has extensive experience representing workers injured because proper safety equipment was not provided on the job site, and also handles a significant amount of medical negligence claims surrounding brachial plexus and other injuries sustained at birth.
David has also argued two cases before the New Jersey Supreme Court, one of which resulted in a landmark ruling that a person has the right to pursue a claim for the fear of contracting HIV/AIDS without proof that there was actual exposure to the disease, as long as there is proof that reasonable potential for exposure occurred, necessitating ongoing testing.
He is a graduate of Rutgers University and Rutgers University School of Law, and an elected member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. For several years, he served as one of two statewide delegates on the Legislative Committee of the New Jersey State Bar and regularly lectures on various topics related to his practice.
