As reported by the Florham Park Eagle, hundreds of people participated in the American Cancer Society’s annual “Relay for Life of Madison/Florham Park.” It began June 22 and continued overnight at Madison High School, located at 170 Ridgedale Ave, Madison, New Jersey.
In this campout event, many of the participants were assigned to teams for the “Relay for Life,” which will had at least one member of each team circle the school’s track. The “Relay for Life” will started with an opening lap by cancer survivors and their caregivers. Luminary candles lit the track in commemoration of those who survived cancer and those who succumbed to the disease.
Many fundraising activities were included in the event. There were performances by local music groups, a scavenger hunt, various sports and fitness sessions, and much more.
The closing ceremony was at 6 a.m. on June 23. The individual and the team that raised the most funds were recognized. Special events director Tracey DePano reports that an estimated $39,000 had already been raised prior to the event.
