A jury in Atlantic County returned a $2.6 million verdict to a 42-year-old woman whose breast cancer diagnosis was delayed by approximately one year due to medical negligence.
The case involved allegations that a radiologist failed to properly interpret a diagnostic mammogram and make appropriate recommendations, and that her gynecology providers were negligent in their care. This delay in diagnosis worsened the woman’s long-term prognosis, necessitated radiation and additional surgeries she otherwise would not have needed, and caused her significant emotional distress.
